DISCLAIMER: This reflection has been rewritten at 15.05.2016 as part of an assignment for Newcastle University using the STAR method (Situation – Tasks – Action – Results)
Situation: 8 weeks internship at Volkswagen in Granada, Spain in Project management for a product launch event with a team of 28 VW employees + around 120 event employees.
The task was to find a perfect route of the Andalusian landscape and deliver a unique driving experience for the guests by driving in new models in a car-colon of 12 cars + 1 pace car through real traffic.
Action: My team and I have found a nice route that will provide a unique driving experience, but we all have overseen one main problem with the course. Which is a two roaded roundabout, that is a threat potential for driving, but I have overcome this problem by requesting police or similar, as this is the exit of an industrial park. I was contacting the police and demanding if related activities are generally possible. After that, I spoke to my supervisor, and he requested officially with the legal authorities department.
Result: It has been granted, and a police patrol is blocking the road everytime a car-colon is passing the roundabout. This has been shown as a beneficial solution, as finding a way around would take the journey unpleasantly longer and wouldn’t have added any value.
