I am using this blog post to write about a unique experience I have here in Newcastle, which I realised after reflecting what it is.
I am talking about the startup scene in Newcastle. It’s a goldmine of collaboration and disrupters with the university as the primary pusher. Companies such as Noveltea; Equiwatt and many more have been developed in this scheme and generated 6-7 digit number seed funding from investors.
Not only the university has this entrepreneurial drive, but the city itself also has several hotspots and free open space communities such as Campusnorth for Tech startups and the TUSpark, which is funded by a Chinese investor from the TUSpark branches in China. Interestingly, Newcastle is the first branch outside of China and with that opens the market for new collaborations.
Using this open spaces is excellent, there are no boundaries or registration. The collaborative spaces are equipped welcoming and modern, which refreshes us to have our general meetings for WAKA Fruits at one of these places.
However, the most beneficial edge of this is not the locations or resources they offer, it’s the communication and network with other startups, which helps tremendously to overcome challenges and have a supportive environment. This is a part of the northeast culture with warm-hearted and friendly people.
Everytime a startup moons, everybody comes together and celebrate the success.
