IAA 2015, a please in heaven for seeing the latest cars and tryouts with vast experience. I am visiting every year this exhibition, but this year is different. It’s because, it’s the first time that I have old working colleagues, representing the company on a massive stall at the exhibition – Volkswagen. But it is also an excellent opportunity to see other big names such as Audi, BMW, Porsche and Daimler.

The stall representation of Audi was very impressive because they placed whole cars on vertical walls which are turning around with a digital street projection on those walls. However, the latest car models of Daimler was more impressive. Notably, the used quality is delivering the customer a new level of comfort and luxury.

However, I used the car-exhibition not for just looking for cars, I actually went there with the aim to connect with HR-recruiters. I apparently talked to Volkswagen first, as I was a previous employee of that company. But with the just started emission scandal, that influenced my perception of the company. I anticipated the impact of the scandal on the industry and saw the potential for change, but the Volkswagen scandal had also impact on the other brands, as they share the same powertrain platform. Of which, the impact on Audi and Porsche must be in the same way immense.

Nonetheless, I talked to HR recruiters and sold myself with my interest in the automotive industry. I’ve got lucky, and all automotive manufacturer has been very interested in my profile. I’ll share my CV with them and hope to organise an internship next year during summer after my exchange semester etc.

Especially, Kerstin W. from Daimler AG shared with me in a friendly conversation her contact details. I contacted her this week via email, after having some doubt of doing a master degree in England and the equivalent acceptance of the industry. She responded me immediately with a telephone appointment and gave me some useful advice. She additionally invited me to Daimler Knowledge College. I am totally overwhelmed by her support. I will try to find an internship at Daimler AG for the summer.
