We have Easter break. Which means, I got one-month no lecturers and the university is not operating.
I think it’s a good idea to wrap up the past 3,5 months here in Newcastle. Where should I start.. Well, I am very impressed by the University and the city! The campus is enormous, and the buildings are like traditional English with red brick stones (I love bricks).
The weather is beautiful in the morning hours until noon, but after it could get cloudy or even rainy. The wind is strong due to the closeness to the coast.
My German University requested to complete 20ECTS credits in my degree program, which is around 4 courses. I chose 7 because I got so fascinated by the lectures and even the lecturers. They are so passionate and always up-to-date! My favourite lecture is Global Business Environment, in which we are discussing the current oil price situation and the OPEC dilemma, with price dumping of the US with fracking.
I joined 3 societies: Renewcastle- a green society for a sustainable environment; Tamil society- to get in touch with people with my cultural background to understand their understanding of the culture; Stu Brew – Europe’s first micro-brewery.
There is a story behind Stu Brew, I took over Stu Brew in February and analysed the business and created the brand around it. Because no one had any business background, I was the only one and created a plan to rebrand and make Stu Brew an own self-sufficient company rather a student project. I took over the most crucial and most lacking problems: social media. As a digital marketing manager I am opening new social media channels, create content and planning a social media campaign by next month. Furthermore, I developed the necessary steps to create a new logo, which should be launched with the next years committee.
Additionally, I met so many new friends around the world and even locals! I have always a great chat with my barber with his Geordie accent and he actually teaches me some words, which is just common over here.
Looking forward for another exiting second half!
