Another 6 months at Daimler has been past and with that my time at GSP/RM. I cannot describe what I have learned during the time at Daimler, I would need hours just to write down the task and responsibilities I had during the past 12 months.
However, I am glad to have such great working colleagues who are contributing a lot every day to develop the project as it is their own company. I did it, I was through my responsibilities and expertise with Daimler internal systems an irreplaceable asset for the project.
The past 6 months were more intense than the first 6-month. Because I had to catch up all work for my university and start writing my dissertation simultaneously by working 20h at the same time. Of which, I decided to focus more on strategic tasks as well as operational tasks, where my expertise is required.
My dissertation was influenced by the challenges and changes I experienced over the past 12 months. The applied title of my dissertation is:
How does disruptive change in the automotive industry effects the business model of German OEMs – A practical evaluation of the Daimler AG.
Having conversations with managers and long-term employees, I gained significant experiences of automotive change by asking particular questions about the Daimler and Chrysler merger. Having the impact in mind, I tried to apply technological trajectories and emerging trends to the influencing factors of the automotive disruption.
In conclusion, it was a phenomenal experience and believe that this company will remain as the leader of the premium segment. I was overwhelmed by the responsibility I took over and think, when the time is right, I want to work for this company as an impact-maker for the coming years. Until then, I will keep myself updated with the project and maintain my network especially with my supervisor J. Kohm.
